Exclusive: West Brom discussions around new contract for star man

Star attacker’s influence at The Hawthorns is ever-growing and Albion have started conversations about a new contract.

Albion are in negotiations with star attacker Isaac Price over a new contract, it can be revealed.

Price, 22, has developed into a key man at The Hawthorns and the Baggies are looking to tie him down for fresh terms.

The Northern Ireland international star underlined his importance to James Morrison’s side with two goals in Sunday’s fine 3-1 win over Burnley, including an excellent strike from range for the lead just after the break.

Talks are understood to be at an early stage but any deal would be in line with Price’s influence and standing in the squad.

Price arrived at The Hawthorns in a deal worth £2.5million from Standard Liege in Belgium in January 2025. His form since has seen the attacker’s value increase significantly.

The former Everton youngster has three years left to run on the initial deal he penned until 2029, but Albion are looking to secure his future and mark his importance in the squad.

Price netted nine goals last season in his first full campaign at the club.

He endured a dip in form after a bright start but excelled under Morrison’s management from the spring.

Morrison used Price from the left side and the attacker, who has 10 international goals in 32 caps for Northern Ireland, has flourished in the role.

Albion are still expected to boost Morrison’s squad with the natural winger the boss desires before the end of the transfer window, which is next Tuesday, September 1.

The Baggies are also looking to tie down the futures of promising academy graduates Cole Deeming and Harry Whitwell. The latter excelled and netted in Sunday’s win over Burnley to continue a fine start to the season.

Albion are aware of Whitwell’s contract situation and growing status and are working on securing his future. Midfielder Deeming is expected to agree a new deal and go out on loan.
