Steve Bruce is under big pressure at West Brom following another defeat last night.

The Baggies were beaten 1-0 away at Preston North End and have slumped into the bottom three in the Championship.

They have won just once so far this season and are finding it tough to get results at the moment.

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane was spotted in the crowd at Deepdale yesterday (see tweet below) sparking speculation that he could potentially be a candidate for the managerial position if Bruce was to be dismissed.

The Irishman has managed Sunderland and Ipswich Town in the past but has been out of the dugout since 2011.

Despite being a regular pundit on television over recent years, he has also held coaching roles with the Republic of Ireland national team, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

Keane suggested earlier this year that he was interested in a return to management. Speaking on the Overlap with Gary Neville, he said:

“I spoke to a couple of clubs again in the last few months. I’m a bit wary of shutting any doors on myself by saying, ‘Oh, I won’t go back into it’. Obviously, the chances are getting less and less as the months go by.

“I’d still like an opportunity. When I say the right opportunity – it has to be the right opportunity.

“I think every negotiation is different. I wouldn’t be setting a stone down and going, ‘It’s got to be a three-year deal, or it’s got to be in a certain area’.

“No. I think you have to speak to clubs, and get that vibe, and see what they’ve got to say to you. Of course [I’d consider going abroad]. Absolutely.”

West Brom have a big decision to make on Bruce’s future as their slide in form continues.

Next up for the Midlands club is a home clash against Luton Town this weekend.
