West Brom’s injury crisis got even worse last weekend as Nathaniel Chalobah landed awkwardly and had to be substituted in the 2-0 win at Blackpool. His replacement, Taylor Gardner-Hickman, scored in that game but concern has since grown. Carlos Corberan confirmed it “doesn’t look like an easy injury” with Chalobah now ruled out for the time being.
This adds to an already lengthy injury list, with seven other players sidelined for this weekend and beyond. Key man Dara O’Shea has been back on the grass this week as he steps up his recovery from a serious knee injury, but he isn’t expected back this season. The same fate can - rather unfortunately - be set out for Daryl Dike, Matt Phillips, Grady Diangana, Martin Kelly, Kean Bryan and Adam Reach.

Sunderland have been dealt a huge blow to their play-off chances this week as captain Danny Batth has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign. The central defender, who has played 40 times in the Championship this term, picked up a knee problem in the midweek draw against Huddersfield Town.
The Black Cats will also have to make do without fellow centre halves Dan Ballard, Aji Alese and Corry Evans, with the latter two also out until pre-season. Edouard Michut, Chris Rigg, Ross Stewart, Jewison Bennette and Elliot Embleton all have a similar fate to round off a nasty-looking list.
Ruled out: Chalobah, O’Shea, Dike, Phillips, Diangana, Kelly, Bryan, Reach (WBA); Batth, Ballard, Alese, Evans, Michut, Rigg, Stewart, Bennette, Embleton (SUN).
Doubts: Yokuslu (WBA).
