West Brom's goal scorer against Hull City last weekend is at risk of a suspension in what is a crucial period in the season.

Darnell Furlong netted against the Tigers last weekend after falling behind to Fabio Carvalho's opener. The 28-year-old has been the Baggies' first choice right-back and has been preferred to Pipa for a majority of the campaign.

Furlong who has been playing senior football for nine years must now navigate through these next few games without a booking however. If he picks up a yellow card in the next three games then he will be handed a two-match ban.

The EFL has a disciplinary rule in which players are suspended for one game if they accumulate five yellow cards before the 19th game of the season and then that is carried over to the 37-game mark, where if someone is carded 10 times then they will serve a two-match ban.

Pipa is waiting and ready for his opportunity should it happen but given Carlos Corberan has already been dealt several injury problems this season, it would be preferred to have all of his options available to him.

Furlong is the only player in real danger of a suspension but there are a few players that are behind him that will need to avoid getting a booking. Okay Yokuslu has eight yellow cards from 33 games this term and so if he were to be booked in two of the three next games then he would have to sit out two matches.

Centre-back pair Cedric Kipre and Kyle Bartley both have seven yellow cards apiece and so they'll need to avoid getting any bookings in the next few matches. The three-game stretch to the suspension cut-off begins with a home match against Coventry City on Friday and then a trip to Loftus Road to face QPR next Wednesday (March 6) before rounding it off at the John Smith's Stadium against Huddersfield Town on Sunday (March 10).

If the players can avoid getting 10 cautions by the 37th game then they won't have anything to worry about. In the extreme cases, there is a three-game ban for those who get 15 yellow cards before the season is out, but getting that many cards with nine games remaining would be extraordinary.
