Carlos Corberan will be tempted to make several changes as West Bromwich Albion face Burnley in the Championship.

West Brom are back in English second-tier action on Thursday night as they take on the recently-relegated Burnley at The Hawthorns.

Albion, without victory in their last seven league matches, will be desperate to put an end to their troublesome winless streak. Defensively, performances have been fairly impressive, but the Baggies have left a lot to be desired in the attacking third.

Corberan isn’t typically one to make lots of reactionary changes to his system - or starting personnel for that matter - but the current rut might shift his thinking. That said, experimenting against a team as strong as Burnley may be a little too risky for the Spaniard.

It’s a good time to face the Clarets, at least, as Scott Parker’s men lost their last outing away at Millwall by one goal to nil. They failed to win three of their five matches before that, too, so they’ve not exactly been flying in recent weeks.

GK - Alex Palmer: The goalkeeper has started the new season strongly, picking up where he left off last term. Palmer has seven clean sheets so far in 2024/25.

RB - Darnell Furlong: Locked in at right-back, Furlong is one of the first names on the team sheet. Nobody is challenging him for this slot at the moment.

CB - Mason Holgate:The Everton loanee made his first start since his return to the club last weekend. With Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley and Paddy McNair out injured, Holgate should consisently.

CB - Torbjorn Heggem: The summer signing moved across to centre-half for the first time against Luton. That will continue with the ongoing injury crisis.

LB - Callum Styles: Another on the back of his first Albion start, Styles appears to be Corberan’s preferred option ahead of Gianluca Frabotta.

CM - Jayson Molumby: Molumby has been benched by Uros Racic in recent weeks but that could change if Corberan decides to switch things up in midfield.

CM - Uros Racic: The Sassuolo loanee could stay in the XI even if Molumby comes in. Albion need better creativity, so an extra midfielder could bring that.

RW - Tom Fellows: The England Under-21 international has been benched recently but he should come back in as he’s one of Albion’s most dangerous players.

LW - Karlan Grant: Not in the goals often but one of the hardest-working players in the squad, it’s hard to imagine this Albion team without Grant.

CAM - Alex Mowatt: The playmaker could move into the number 10 role to facilitate both Racic and Molumby. John Swift and Grady Diangana, meanwhile, are out of form.

ST - Josh Maja: The Nigerian ended a five-game drought by netting the opener last time out, his eighth goal of the season. Maja simply has to start when fit.
