Derby County have reportedly made a loan offer for West Bromwich Albion striker Karlan Grant on transfer deadline day amid interest from promotion rivals Burnley.
According to the Express & Star, third-placed Championship side Burnley had explored the possibility of a permanent deal for Grant but were rebuffed, while Derby are reported to have asked about a short-term move for the former Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town forward.

The 27-year-old forward has been a regular for the Baggies this season, scoring seven goals in 28 appearances across all competitions as Tony Mowbray’s side push for promotion back to the Premier League.
Grant set to stay despite new striker signings
Grant looks set to stay at the Hawthorns in spite of the arrival of Will Lankshear, who became West Brom’s second signing of the winter transfer window when he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, and reports which suggest that the Baggies are closing in on the permanent signing of young Danish striker Tammer Bany from Superliga side Randers.
Grant first joined West Brom in 2020 for a fee reported to be as high as £15m and has since scored 31 goals in 129 games for the Midlands club. He spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, netting six times in 40 appearances, but has reestablished himself as a regular member of the starting eleven since returning to the Hawthorns.

Busy deadline day ahead with Palmer set to leave
West Brom had been expected to have a quiet day on Monday, but that hope has been shattered by news that first-choice goalkeeper Alex Palmer is set to leave the Hawthorns in a surprise move to Ipswich Town worth up to £5m. The former England youth international is currently at Portman Road completing a medical ahead of a permanent transfer to the Premier League side.
The prospective arrival of 21-year-old forward Bany from the Danish Superliga had been expected to be the only significant arrival on deadline day, but Palmer’s impending departure may see Mowbray’s side make a late move for a replacement goalkeeper. They are also considering recalling Josh Griffiths from his loan spell at Bristol Rovers to help fill the void left behind by Palmer.
As well as securing a deal for Bany, West Brom will also look at the possibility of sending young players on the fringes of the first-team away on loan to get some valuable experience. Ollie Bostock and Harry Whitwell are among the players who could leave on a short-term basis to get some minutes.
