West Brom star Grady Diangana has hailed the impact that Carlos Corberan has had on his career so far.

The Baggies are currently fifth in the Championship standings with the Spaniard defying expectations. He has had to work with free transfers and loanees but is close to securing a top-six spot.

Corberan has already been credited with the development of one of West Brom’s key players. Former West Ham midfielder Grady Diangana said the guidance of Corberan has helped him grow which has transferred in to him rediscovering his form. Diangana has got eight goals and seven assists in 33 games this season with no other player having more goal contributions.

"He's had a massive impact," said Diangana to the official club website.

"Especially with the mental side of things, he’s helped me to grow as a person. "A lot of the individual meetings we have has really opened my eyes with certain things about how powerful the mind can be.

"It’s helped me to grow and have a keep-going mentality to make sure you’re there, even in the tough moments and have the same mindset during those times."

Diangana is enjoying a campaign that is akin to the one that helped lead West Brom to the Premier League the last time. He had 15 goal contributions in 30 matches after they won promotion in 2019/20. It is a joint career best campaign for Diangana but there is still 'room for improvement' with three more games remaining and potentially three play-off matches.

"I always try to do my best to reach my best performance level," added Grady. "But I’d say I’m in a good place, especially when helping the team out, getting goals and assists, which is the most important thing.

"I’ve learnt a lot this season, and the last three or four. I haven’t done well with the goals tally and performances in the last two or three years. But they’ve given me a level of maturity and learning too, and this season’s been about putting it all together.

"I’d say I’m enjoying and expressing myself in a different way this time around.

"I always think there’s room for improvement so I guess I’m always searching to get to my best."
