West Brom face a challenging run in to secure a play-off place this season

Play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion were forced to settle for their 18th draw of the season after being held to a 1-1 draw against a relegation-threatened Hull City team. The Baggies took a deserved lead through Isaac Price from the edge of the area during the second half, but were pegged back in the final 15 minutes of the contest when Tiger sub Abu Kamara levelled proceedings.

The result leaves West Brom just about holding onto a play-off place after Bristol City’s victory against Norwich City, Middlesbrough’s draw at Luton Town and Coventry City’s 3-0 triumph over Sunderland. However, just goal difference separates the six placed Baggies and the seventh placed Robins heading into the international break. “I think in the international break there’s some scope to work on getting more end product from our possession and play in the final third. It’s a disappointing dressing room and I think rightly so,” said Tony Mowbray ahead of the reset.

West Brom have just eight games left to secure their top six fate but how do their fixtures compare to the team’s around them including Sunderland, Coventry City, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Watford? Here’s all you need to know.

Sunderland: 4th - 69 points

Sunderland flirted with automatic promotion during the early months of the season but now found themselves in what Dan Neil described as ‘no man’s land’ - 11 points away from the top two and 10 points clear of fifth placed Coventry City.

The Black Cats are expected to remain in fourth spot but will be keen to avoid a repeat of their performance at the Coventry Building Society Arena last time out.

West Brom are targeting promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since 2021 and have a coach in Tony Mowbray who has a proven track record at the Hawthorns after leading them to the top-flight in 2008. Mowbray has had mixed start since succeeding Carlos Corberan in the dugout and will look to ensure that he can convert more draws into wins during the final furlong of the campaign.

However, the bombshell exit of manager John Eustace to Derby County has soured the atmosphere at Ewood Park and left Valerin Ismael with plenty of work to do after a poor start which has seen him fail to win in any of his opening four matches.
