West Brom have a 'natural choice' for an emergency goalkeeper joked EFL pundit David Prutton as he issued his prediction for their game against Huddersfield Town.

The Baggies drew 2-2 with QPR in front of the television cameras on Wednesday night but the match was shrouded in controversy. An incident early in the second-half saw Cedric Kipre make a goal line block to deny Sam Field. The moment was further analysed and it appeared that he handled the ball to deny the goal, deflecting the attempt over the bar as the last line of defence.

Despite dropping points to a side currently involved in a relegation battle, West Brom kept their three-point lead over Hull City who dropped points to Birmingham City, whilst Noriwch City lost to Middlesbrough. Up next for Carlos Corberan's side is Huddersfield who lost 1-0 to Cardiff City on Wednesday night, and are above the relegation zone on the virtue of goal difference.

Previewing West Brom's next match in his Sky Sports column, he said: "A first defeat for Andre Breitenreiter in charge of Huddersfield in midweek, and they were a little timid at times at Cardiff. Perhaps they were tired after the effort against Leeds with 10 players last Saturday. But they need to buck up again.

"West Brom were held by QPR in midweek, but considering the nature of some of the controversy in that game it wasn’t a terrible point. And they’ve got a natural choice of emergency goalkeeper now in Cedric Kipre. I think they’ll win at the John Smith’s, particularly if Mikey Johnston and Grady Diangana keep playing the way they are.

The former Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder predicted that West Brom would win 2-1 on Sunday. The Terriers have a decent record against West Brom having lost just one of their last six league games against them. The most recent meeting came in September when Jack Rudoni scored a 96th minute winner for Neil Warnock's side after John Swift had cancelled out Delano Burgzorg's opener.

West Brom haven't won in their last four away league matches at Huddersfield, and have failed to score in half of those. The Baggies do have a good record in Yorkshire this season though and are unbeaten having drawn two and won once. This is the first time that Carlos Corberan will return to Huddersfield having departed them in 2022. He has a mixed record against the Terriers, having won one and lost one with both games being at The Hawthorn's.
