West Bromwich Albion have lined up significant investment to keep Carlos Corberan chipper amid interest from Leicester City.

The Baggies are growing increasingly confident that Corberan will continue as the club’s head coach despite speculation linking the Spaniard to the vacant Leicester role.

It was reported on Tuesday by The Telegraph that Corberan would be available to poach for around £3.5 million-£4 million’s worth of compensation. Reports elsewhere claimed talks had initiated between the clubs and Corberan but a more local update states that to be a falsehood.

BBC West Midlands reports there’s been no contact from Leicester ahead of any potential move. Corberan, committed to West Brom, is said to be in daily communication with Albion over plans for next season, including incomings and outgoings in the summer transfer window.

West Brom owner Shilen Patel has also made a huge seven-figure commitment that has been well received by Corberan. Our sister publication, Express & Star, reports Patel has pumped nearly £1 million into the club’s training ground to improve facilities ahead of pre-season and the 2024/25 campaign.

The outlay will definitely benefit Albion, not only in the interests of keeping Corberan but also in improving the day-to-day life of players and staff. Training ground works may only be a small factor in the grand scheme of things but every little helps in the success of a club.

As the EFL’s profit and sustainability rules don’t take into account investments into infrastructure, any payments will not impact West Brom’s transfer budget. It’s expected to be a tricky summer window to navigate but Patel’s recent training ground decision won’t worsen matters.
