West Brom have fresh Deadline Day dilemma as League One transfer contact emerges

The latest news on Transfer Deadline Day as West Brom and Bolton Wanderers finalise a deal.

West Bromwich Albion have a new Deadline Day decision to make as Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of central defender Caleb Taylor on a loan deal until the end of the season, reducing the depth of Carlos Corberan's squad.

Sky Bet League One side Bolton were keen to recruit in defence as centre back pair Ricardo Santos and Eoin Toal sustained injuries recently. Taylor, who has made nine senior appearances for West Brom, already has experience in the English third tier from a successful loan spell at Cheltenham Town.

Taylor, an academy product with 69 appearances for Albion at youth level, benefited a great deal from his spell at Cheltenham as he played 49 times, scoring twice in the process. The 21-year-old now has the opportunity to progress his skillset further with consistent game time in the English third tier.

West Brom must now decide if they want to try and bring in another defender before the deadline as Taylor's departure means there's now less cover. Cedric Kipre, Kyle Bartley and Semi Ajayi are the three main central defenders left, while Erik Pieters is a backup. Martin Kelly, meanwhile, is back but severely lacking in match sharpness following a lengthy injury lay-off.

Calum Chambers from Aston Villa is a transfer target, with the former Arsenal man unwanted by Unai Emery. West Brom are in talks with the Villans over a potential move, with the 30-year-old available to loan with an option to buy.
