Sunderland conceded a stoppage time equaliser to Millwall after Aaron Connolly had opened the scoring for the Black Cats. Leeds United’s late win against Swansea City on Sunday put the Whites top of the league.

It’s a short turnaround between for West Brom and Sunderland, giving not much time for anyone to get fit from any knocks and niggles. Here’s the latest injury and team news prior to the game on Tuesday.

West Brom team news

Kyle Bartley could soon make a return to action after undergoing minor surgery last month. A return against Sunderland is a possibility, but a realistic target is Preston North End at the weekend. Grady Diangana is a doubt after complaining of a tight calf last Friday.

Paddy McNair and Semi Ajayi are both out for longer. McNair has a hamstring injury which will rule him out until Christmas, and with his loan ending just a week later, he may have played his last game for the club. As for Ajayi, his hamstring injury is a bit more serious, and there's a possibility we might not see him until March.

Daryl Dike is a long-term absentee. He suffered an Achilles injury in February, and as he made an effort to return just before Christmas, he suffered a setback.

Out: Paddy McNair, Semi Ajayi, and Daryl Dike. Doubt: Kyle Bartley and Grady Diangana.

Sunderland team news

Dennis Cirkin, Leo Hjelde and Nazariy Rusyn were all absent for Sunderland's draw at The Den at the weekend. Hjelde and Rusyn were missing through injury but the former did make the trip to the capital. In his pre-match press conference, Regis Le Bris said they would both be available.

Cirkin has a broken wrist and required surgery during the international break. He is still recovering but right now he has a 'short recovery period.' Le Bris said he would 'probably' not be available for WBA.

Jobe Bellingham is once again available for selection. He was serving a three game ban after picking up a red card. Patrick Roberts and Trai Hume were also missing after serving a one game ban for accumulating five yellow cards.

Salis Abdul Samed has yet to make his debut since joining in the summer. He's not able to train until mid-December, along with Ahmed Abdullahi, and Ian Poveda. Poveda suffered a muscular injury at the start of October.

Romaine Mundle wasn't in the squad after suffering an injury against Coventry just before the break. He along with summer signing Alan Browne are expected to be out for six to eight weeks.

Niall Huggins suffered a serious knee injury at the start of the year. He's not expected to come back until 2025. Jenson Seelt is in a similar position after requiring surgery.

Doubts: Dennis Cirkin. Out: Salis Abdul Samed, Ahmed Abdullahi, Ian Poveda, Alan Browne, Niall Huggins, Jenson Seelt and Romaine Mundle.
