West Brom must do something which they haven't done since December 31, 2016 and that is beat Southampton at their ground. Matt Phillips and Hal Robson-Kanu were on target for West Brom that day with the former the only remaining player at the club from that team managed by Tony Pulis.

Here's the latest injury and team news ahead of both manager's pre-match press conferences.

West Brom team news

Former Sunderland striker Josh Maja is unlikely to play a part for West Brom after a lack of first-team minutes. An ankle injury put him on the sidelines for a few months and he has been making a gradual return to action. Andi Weimann was anmed among the substitute's on Sunday instead and the Austrian has recently been made a free agent after Bristol City announced they would not be extending his contract.

Explaining the decision, Carlos Corberan said: “I made the decision to involve Andi because during and after the injury of Maja, I’ve tried in many ways to make him fit and make him ready. I gave him game time in the under-21s games,” Corberan said.

“Unfortunately I don’t think he has achieved enough number of Championship minutes to arrive fit enough to face a team like Southampton. You know you need to defend with a lot of work, you need to be fit and ready, mentally and physically for the challenge.”

Daryl Dike is out after he ruptured his Achilles for the second time in his career. Jayson Molumby had to undergo an operation because of a foot injury and will play no part either. Both players have been at the training ground working on their recovery.

Out: Daryl Dike and Jayson Molumby. Doubt: Josh Maja.

Southampton team news

Southampton manager Russell Martin is hopeful that he will be able to call upon 16-goal striker Che Adams on Friday. He sat out of the first leg because he picked up a tight calf against Leeds United on the final day of the season.

“Hopefully we’ll have Che back for Friday,” said Martin said during his post-match press conference.

“We were hoping he’d be here for this one but risk outweighs the reward. We’ll get him on the training pitch over the next days and see how he reacts. He’s important.”

Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu is out until next year after rupturing his Achilles. Juan Larios hasn’t played a competitive game for the senior team since November 2022, and isn’t in contention to return just yet.

Stuart Armstrong suffered a quad injury in mid-April against Cardiff City and that put an end to his season. The 32-year-old is now in a race against time to get himself fit for EURO 2024 with Scotland.

Doubt: Che Adams. Out: Gavin Bazunu, Juan Larios and Stuart Armstrong.
