'Pretty confident' - Pundit makes bold Black County derby prediction ahead of West Brom vs Wolves

Chris Sutton has issued his prediction for this weekend's derby between West Brom and Wolves in the FA Cup.

Chris Sutton has issued his verdict on this weekend's FA Cup Black Country derby between West Brom and Wolves. The clash is set up to be a fascinating one despite Wolves being favourites on paper.

While Gary O'Neill's men have enjoyed a strong start to their Premier League campaign, West Brom have been flying in the Championship, currently fifth and looking like strong playoff contenders. Carlos Corberan's men have won five of their last seven games, and at The Hawthorns, they will believe a derby upset could be on the cards.

Wolves will have other ideas, hoping to add to their strong start with an FA Cup run, and that's something BBC Sport pundit and former Birmingham City striker Sutton has highlights in his FA Cup predictions. He said: "This local derby is always a big occasion and it should be a great game too. I watched West Brom lose at Norwich at the weekend, but they were a bit unlucky actually because they dominated possession.

"Wolves are on a nice run of form in the league, and I think their manager Gary O'Neil will fancy a bit of a cup run. I can see the scoreline being close, but I am pretty confident they will beat the Baggies." Sutton tipped a close game, ultimately deciding on a 2-1 away win for Wolves.

The last time these two sides met was back in 2021 when they drew 1-1 in the Premier League. Interestingly, West Brom have won three of the last five meetings, with Wolves winning once. The Baggies have also won nine of the last 14 meetings, only losing twice.
