Premier League, retired, free agent: Here’s how the 12 players that left West Brom in the summer are doing
Twelve senior players left the Hawthorns in the summer
As expected following relegation from the Premier League, there was mass turnover at West Bromwich Albion this summer.
Including youngsters, 21 players were released whilst others such as Matheus Pereira were sold on for big money.
Twelve senior squad members in total left and whilst not many of those 12 were massively questioned at the time, looking at Albion’s current struggles it does make you wonder if things would be better off had certain players stayed.
Things may not be flowing smoothly at the Hawthorns right now but are any of the departees having much success themselves?
From moves to Saudi Arabia to those that are still down at the job centre looking for work.
Here’s a full run through of the 12 senior players that left West Brom last summer.

1. Branislav Ivanovic
Ivanovic remains a free agent after leaving the Hawthorns following the expiry of his contract. Whilst he’s not officially announced his retirement from football, at 38, it’s hard to imagine him linking up anywhere else. Photo: Getty Images
2. Matheus Pereira
Signed for Al-Hilal Riyadh of the Saudi Arabia first tier on a permanent contract in a deal worth around £16million. The 25-year-old has provided eight assists and one goal in 17 appearances so far for his new club. Photo: Nathan Stirk

3. Ahmed Hegazi
Another that swapped English football for the top tier in Saudi Arabia. After spending the 20/21 season on loan with Al-Ittihad Jeddah, the 30-year-old made his move permanent in the summer. Hegazi has scored three goals in 14 appearances.

4. Lee Peltier
Left the Hawthorns following the expiry of his contract and joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough. He’s gone on to make 18 appearances in all competitions so far for Chris Wilder’s men. Photo: Alex Pantling
