As expected following relegation from the Premier League, there was mass turnover at West Bromwich Albion this summer.
Including youngsters, 21 players were released whilst others such as Matheus Pereira were sold on for big money.
Twelve senior squad members in total left and whilst not many of those 12 were massively questioned at the time, looking at Albion’s current struggles it does make you wonder if things would be better off had certain players stayed.
Things may not be flowing smoothly at the Hawthorns right now but are any of the departees having much success themselves?

5. Andy Lonergan
The beauty of being a goalkeeper is you can often jump up a level even after being released. Lonergan left West Brom following the expiry of his short-term deal and went on to join Premier League side Everton. The veteran stopper is yet to make an appearance for the Toffees, though. 6. Sam Field
Despite spending five years at the Hawthorns, Field’s career never really got going at Albion and after spending the back end of 2021 on loan with QPR, he joined the Rs on a permanent deal this summer. The 23-year-old has made 14 appearances this campaign for the promotion hopefuls, scoring no goals.
7. Kamil Grosicki
The Polish winger spent 18 months with West Brom before moving back to his homeland to play for first division side Pogon Szczecin. Grosicki, 33, has had a successful return to Poland up to now, having scored four goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances. Photo: David Rogers
8. Hal Robson-Kanu
Robson-Kanu certainly provided the most disappointment among fans when it was revealed he would be leaving the club. He made 154 appearances for Albion across a five-year spell and at jut 32 still has a lot left in the tank. HRK revealed that he would have loved to stay at Albion but he and the club had a “different vision for the future.” He’s still without a club. Photo: Marc Atkins
