One club has pulled out of the race for the in-demand West Brom midfielder.

A club have publicly confirmed that they will not be signing a West Brom player this summer.

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has relayed the message from Besiktas chief Huseyin Yucel that they will not be signing Okay Yokuslu. The 30-year-old was strongly linked with a move to the Tupras Stadyumu, but a transfer will not be taking place.

Confirmed at mid-day on Sunday (July 14), Yucel said: "We were interested in Okay Yokuslu, but unfortunately the probability of it happening is zero."

Earlier this month, Turkish reports claimed Yokuslu had agreed personal terms but Besiktas could not agree a fee with West Brom. They wanted the Championship club to lower their demands but the Baggies have held firm.

The news means that Hull City's only hurdle in signing Yokuslu is West Brom, and the player's representatives as they bid to get a deal done. Ertan Suzgun, another Turkish journalist says that Yokuslu is currently evaluating his options after the move fell through.

Former England international Carlton Palmer believes that if the Tigers land Yokuslu then it could be 'good business' as he's a 'very good player. The former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder is of the belief though that WBA would like to keep him at the Hawthorns, but offer him a shorter contract, with his current deal set to run for one more year.

Speaking to Football League World, he said: "I think West Brom would like to keep him but on a shorter contract and Hull are looking at the deal, and that’s where the problem will be, because a 30-year-old on £25,000 a week for three years is a lot of money.

“He’s out of contract next season, so if Hull want to kick on, they just missed out on the play-offs last year with Liam Rosenior. They’re an ambitious club, and with the sale of players and bringing big money in this might represent smart business for them.

“This could be good business for them because he’s a very good player."
