He is under contract at Celtic Park until the summer of 2026 but his impressive six-month spell in the Championship could see him attract interest from English clubs.
He played 20 times for West Brom after joining on loan and registered seven goals and two assists, helping the team achieve a top six spot. Despite only spending a matter of months at The Hawthorns, the tricky winger hailed West Brom an 'amazing club' and had a lot of good words to say about them.
A fortnight ago, Johnston said everyone associated with West Brom: 'I wish it could’ve finished differently, but still such a happy period of my career. An amazing club with such good people. Thank you for everything @wba and to the fans for the unbelievable support you’ve given myself and the team all season.'

Last season, West Brom did not exchange a transfer fee for any of their signings in the summer transfer window and the winter. Shilen Patel bought the club from Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai and there is a hope that there will be money available to Carlos Corberan this summer.
West Brom may have to move some players off their books to facilitate a move for Johnson and others though. Matty Phillips, Adam Reach, Nathaniel Chalobah, Yann M’Vila, Martin Kelly and Erik Pieters have already departed which has freed up the wage bill.
