West Brom supporters travelled in their numbers as they witnessed a 3-1 win over QPR on the opening day of the Championship season.

The Championship season began on Friday, August 9, and despite the launch of Sky Sports + which offered fans the chance to watch the games from their own armchairs, supporters still flocked to games in their numbers. In West London, Baggies fans witnessed Josh Maja score a hat-trick, in what was a first for the club since Alf Bentley in 1913-14.

A week later, WBA held Leeds United to a goalless draw, and there were 2,542 Whites supporters who made the journey down from Yorkshire for the early kick-off after the game was shown on Sky Sports. West Brom had a crowd of 25,329 on Saturday, and that put them in ninth when comparing the first home attendance of every Championship club.

It’s now time to take a look at the attendance figures for all the teams who have travelled over the last fortnight. All 24 teams have now played home and away, and whilst it’s early days, it’s always nice to compare the clubs in their level of support when following their team away from home.

Thanks to figures collated by FanBanter, we can take a look at the Championship away attendance figures from games played from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18. The largest away following from the first two rounds of fixtures is the 4,029 travelling contingent from Sheffield United which witnessed a 2-0 win at Preston North End.

At the other end, PNE apparently only took 393 fans to Swansea City, and those hardy souls witnessed a 3-0 defeat, with their caretaker manager Mike Marsh not conducting a post-match interview. The only figure that couldn’t be obtained is how many Watford supporters went to Millwall, whilst there are estimates for the likes of Stoke City, Plmouth Argyle, QPR and Swansea City.
