Carlos Corberan could make several attacking changes as West Bromwich Albion take on Hull City in the Championship.

West Brom will be desperate to put an end to their eight-game winless streak as they take on Hull at MKM Stadium this Sunday.

The Baggies earned a decent point against the recently-relegated Burnley on Thursday night but it was the fifth time in the last seven matches that Albion have failed to score. Three goalless stalemates in the last four have made West Brom one of the dullest Championship teams to watch in recent weeks.

Sunday’s visit to Hull is a great opportunity for Albion to escape their rut, though, as the Tigers, without victory in the Championship since October 1, are also devoid of confidence. Three defeats and three draws in the last six have plummeted Hull to 18th in the standings, above the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

West Brom will no doubt look at that record and feel renewed belief ahead of this weekend. Corberan’s men - with eight goals conceded - can also take great confidence from boasting the third-best defensive record in the Championship. Once the goals start flowing again, the play-off charge should be well and truly back on.

West Brom predicted XI vs Hull City

With the goalscoring issues in mind, here’s the Albion lineup we predict will take on Hull - including a different look in attack.

GK - Alex Palmer: The goalkeeper has started the new season strongly, picking up where he left off last term. Palmer has eight clean sheets in 14 league matches in 2024/25.

RB - Darnell Furlong: Locked in at right-back, Furlong is one of the first names on the team sheet. Nobody is challenging him for this slot at the moment.

CB - Mason Holgate: The Everton loanee has started the last two games. With Semi Ajayi, Kyle Bartley and Paddy McNair out injured, Holgate should play consisently.

CB - Torbjorn Heggem: The summer signing moved across to centre-half for the first time against Luton - and then again for the 0-0 draw with Burnley. That will continue amid the ongoing injury crisis.

LB - Callum Styles: The Hungary international, a decent performer in the last two outings, appears to be Corberan’s preferred option ahead of Gianluca Frabotta.

CM - Jayson Molumby: Back in the team after being benched by Uros Racic for a while, Molumby certainly has a point to prove.

CM - Alex Mowatt: Corberan’s preferred option in the number eight role, Mowatt isn’t in the best form but he’s electric when at his best.

RW - Tom Fellows: The England Under-21 international has been benched recently but he should start again as he’s one of Albion’s most dangerous players.

LW - Mikey Johnston: It’s been a struggle to displace Karlan Grant of late but a swap around could facilitate an opportunity for £3 million signing Johnston.

CAM - Josh Maja: Albion’s top scorer could move into the attacking midfield role to bring a little extra firepower just in behind the striker. Corberan tried this for the final 20 minutes on Thursday - and John Swift looked lethargic.

ST - Karlan Grant: Often one of West Brom’s best performers and hardest-working players, Grant would probably profit from leading the line. It’s worth a try given the current goalscoring woes.
