Arsenal make shock swoop for Wolves ace as Newcastle United interest rebuffed
Wolvers are expecting a surprise bid from Arsenal and Newcastle United have been dealt a transfer blow.
Arsenal are reportedly preparing an offer to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Bentley this summer.

The Gunners, eager to provide added competition for David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale, have turned to Bentley to tick more than one box. As the Wolves man is an Arsenal academy graduate, his acquisition would help a great deal with registration rules, as well as the obvious depth in the goalkeeping department.
Our sister publication, Express & Star, reports Arsenal have already made contact with Wolves to register their interest. Talks are expected to progress rather quickly as the Gunners’ intentions to sign Bentley are clear and the player wants the move, even if it means being a third choice rather than a backup.
The 30-year-old has only made nine senior appearances for Wolves since signing from Bristol City in January 2023 but he did enjoy a run of three Premier League starts in December of last season. In the appearances he racked up, Bentley kept three clean sheets and conceded 13 goals.

Earlier in his career, the shot-stopper played a total of 428 matches across spells with Bristol, Brentford and Southend United. In those fixtures, Bentley preserved 121 clean sheets and let in 532 goals. He’s now expected to move on once again, despite featuring only a handful of times for the Old Gold.
Newcastle United interest rebuffed
In other Premier League transfer news, Newcastle United have reportedly been told to back off by West Ham United. Football Insider claims the Magpies are keen on signing winger Jarrod Bowen this summer but the Hammers have emphasised their not-for-sale stance.
It’s stated West Ham have placed a whopping £100 million price tag on Bowen to try and deflect any interest. The England international, who has appeared twice so far at the 2024 UEFA European Championships, contributed 16 goals and six assists in 34 Premier League appearances last campaign.
