West Bromwich Albion are reportedly in a strong position to sign Scottish wonderkid Aiden McGinlay this summer.

The 17-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for current club Queen’s Park but his performances at under-18 and B-team level have caught the attention of several teams. Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic are among those, while West Brom must also battle Stoke City, Ipswich Town and Norwich City.

Signed from the Partick Thistle academy in January, McGinlay has already made a strong impression at Queen’s Park and he’s regarded as the best prospect at the club. He could soon be on the move, though, with no transfer fee but merely training compensation available due to a lack of professional contract.

TEAMtalk reports scouts from numerous teams have been out to study McGinlay ahead of a potential summer swoop. West Brom and Stoke are leading the race but Celtic, Norwich and Ipswich are all credited with a strong interest. McGinlay has already experienced life at Ipswich as he once went on trial with the Tractor Boys.

Two times a Scotland Under-17 appearance-maker, the midfielder is bound to move up through the youth international ranks over the coming years. McGinlay wouldn’t be an immediate starter for any potential suitor but his sky-high potential makes him a hot prospect for the future.
