Aston Villa 'receive formal offer' after interest from West Brom and Hull City

Aston Villa have reportedly received an offer from Hull City for wantaway defender Calum Chambers, giving West Bromwich Albion the hurry-up ahead of the transfer deadline.

The Baggies have been in contact with Villa this morning about a potential move for Chambers but Hull's speedy bid has thrown a spanner in the works. Turkish outlet Sports Digitale reports the Tigers have formally approached the Villans. It awaits to be seen whether it's a loan or permanent deal in the offing.

Formerly of Arsenal, Chambers is unwanted by Unai Emery at Villa Park and has been on the transfer list ever since the winter window opened. A move could now finally be on the cards to end the player's nightmare after just three appearances across all competitions this season.

Chambers, who signed for Villa on a free transfer from the Gunners in January 2022, was always expected to be a squad player but his game time has lacked even more than promised. Three times a senior England international, the versatile defender certainly has talent.

Hull and West Brom will be keen to help Chambers reignite his career but other clubs in the Sky Bet Championship are keen. This one could go down to the wire as the deadline approaches.
