Hide AdThe Black Stars did not progress to the knock-out stages of the Africa Cup of Nations and as a result, Hughton has lost his job. Despite boasting a squad that has the likes of West Ham's Mohammed Kudus, Crystal Palace's Jordan Ayew and Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, they failed to win a match.
Ghana drew with Egypt and Mozambique and lost 2-1 to Cape Verde in their opener. They had a small amount of hope of progressing as one of the best third-placed ranked teams but results went against them and now they exit the competition at a stage not many would have predicted they'd be departing at.
"Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect," a Ghana Football Association (GFA) statement said.

"The GFA will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars."
Hughton had been in the manger's post for 11 months and had a win percentage of 30.77% from the four wins, four draws and five defeats he saw in 13 games. He had been working as a technical advisor to Ghana for nearly two years and now it will be interesting to see where the 65-year-old ends up next.

Hide AdHughton has worked as a coach for 27-years and first became a manager with Newcastle United in 2009. He led the Magpies to the Championship title but was relieved of his duties just a few months in to the Premier League season.
He would later manage Birmingham City in their first European campaign in 50 years and led them to the Championship play-offs, where they lost in the semi-finals to Blackpool. Hughton also managed Norwich City and then Brighton & Hove Albion, and with the latter he guided them to promotion in 2017, and the Seagulls have stayed in the top-flight since.
