Championship team of the week dominated by West Brom, Burnley, Middlesbrough and Birmingham City - gallery

Here’s how the Championship team of the week shapes up for February 3-4, including West Brom, Birmingham, Burnley and Middlesbrough players.

Another thrilling weekend of action in the Sky Bet Championship has come to an end and the player ratings have been totted up from across England’s second tier. From clutch results near the bottom of the league standings to yet more points gained at the summit, battles across the table are intensifying.

West Midlands sides West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City both earned vital wins in their respective fixtures. Grady Diangana’s early goal sealed a 1-0 win for the Baggies over Coventry City, whereas Auston Trusty netted a last-gasp winner to seal the points for Blues in a 4-3 thriller at Swansea City.

John Eustace’s side certainly upped the ante, putting a streak of five successive defeats to an abrupt end. It wasn’t easy, though, as the Swans went ahead on two occasions throughout the match. Two late goals, one in the 90th minute and another in the 97th, sent traveling Bluenoses into a frenzy in the Stadium away end.

Burnley extended their lead over Sheffield United at the top of the Championship with a 3-0 win away at Norwich City, while Middlesbrough kept up their momentum by beating Blackpool by the same scoreline. Bristol City continued their unbeaten run with a successful 2-1 away trip to Preston, whereas Hull City moved into the top half by beating Cardiff City.

So many players impressed this weekend just gone that it would be difficult to select just 11 players to form a team of the week but, rather thankfully, WhoScored’s ratings system makes things a lot easier. With that in mind, here are the best-performing stars of the weekend based on WhoScored ratings. See below.
