The latest transfer news in the Premier League and Championship on deadline day as Birmingham City close in on a Leeds United defender wanted by West Brom.

Birmingham City have completed the signing of Leeds United right-back Cody Drameh on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, according to a reputable report.

Still just 21 years of age, Drameh has spent the second half of the last two campaigns on loan in the Championship, firstly with Cardiff City and then with Luton Town.

The time at Luton was a particular success as the former England U21 international played 1,300 minutes, notching two assists to help the Hatters reach the Premier League.

Although Leeds are now of course in the English second tier following their relegation last term, Drameh hasn’t been in the Yorkshire club’s plans, so a move was always going to be in the offing.

Fabrizio Romano reports Blues are the team to secure Drameh with the deal signed bright and early. Tom Brady and Tom Wagner are both said to be key driving forces behind the transfer.

Bluenoses waking up in the hope of deadline day action will be delighted to see the first bit of business done at rapid speed, especially as they have beaten some local rivals to do so.

The Athletic reports West Bromwich Albion, who want depth at right-back, enquired about Drameh but the latest Birmingham development suggests the Baggies didn’t act quickly enough.
