A former Birmingham City player has been made to search for a new club following his release from a League Two club.

Former Birmingham City striker Omar Bogle has become a free agent after he was told his contract wouldn't be renewed.

The 30-year-old is departing Newport County after two seasons with his deal coming to an end, and the Exiles opting not to keep him on. He played 32 times in all competitions for the Welsh side this season with eight goals and four assists. In total, he scored 27 times in the 86 games that he played as Newport finished 15th and 18th respectively.

Addressed to Bogle and the other seven players leaving club, Newport County said: "The club would like to thank all departing players for their service and commitment to the club and wish them well for the future."

Bogle, who was born in Birmingham joined Blues on a season-long loan in August 2018 when Garry Monk was in charge. He played 16 times and scored one league goal, but found himself battling with Lukas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams for a spot and couldn't break through with Beryly Lubala ousting him from a place on the bench.

His loan was cut short six months in to the agreement and he played for Portsmouth for the second part of the campaign, scoring four goals in 14 appearances. His other clubs after leaving Newport included ADO Den Haag, as well as Charlton Athletic, Doncaster Rovers and Hartlepool United.

Bogle was most prolific when playing for Grimsby Town and Solihull Moors, scoring 62 goals in the National League North for the Moors and then 32 goals in 68 games in the National League and League Two with the Mariners.
