What has been said ahead of Birmingham City vs West Brom?

Birmingham will be opening the Tilton lower for 900 fans as a safe standing test. Their boss Eustace has said: “It’s brilliant, an exciting period, the Club is on the rise. To get some fans back in the Tilton lower will be really exciting. Friday will be a difficult game against an excellent team. They have loads of experienced Sky Bet Championship players. We will have our game plan. The lads are full of confidence and can’t wait for the game.”

He also provided this injury update: “Ethan [Laird] is, hopefully, 10 to 15 days away, Tyler [Roberts] is three to four weeks away, George [Hall] is coming along nicely. Hopefully, after the international break, we will get two or three players back. It’s about the squad, this group of players gelling and understanding everyone. The players have been very good, I have been pleased with their attitude, their desire, and I am happy with our progression.”

West Brom’s manager Corberan has said: “A local derby to me personally is no different than any other game because I respect my club every single time we are out on the football pitch.

“If I was to respect my club more in the days of the derbies, it would mean that I don’t respect my club how I should respect them. It’s great to play in a good atmosphere and that is what we are expecting on Friday.

“When I was younger and I started my career as a coach, I remember it was my father, my girlfriend at the time and three more people watching the games I was coaching, with maybe the families of the players too. No more than 20 people watching.

“When you are there, your dream is to be involved in big games and we are going to play in a very big game on Friday night. The dream for players is to play in big games and the dream for a coach is to coach a team in a big game.”
