Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri penned this classy 93-word statement to Birmingham City fans, including a hint at his future plans.

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has sent a farewell message to Birmingham City fans after a successful season-long loan deal, hinting at the next step of his career. The 20-year-old made 38 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship for Blues throughout 2022/23, contributing six direct goal involvements in the process.

The Tunisian’s passion was second-to-none all campaign long and he will be dearly missed by all at St Andrew’s. They said you should never fall in love with a loan player, but there are rather a few who Bluenoses have grown connected with this term just gone. Hannibal, Auston Trusty, Dion Sanderson, Krystian Bielik, Reda Khadra. The list goes on.

An exciting new era awaits as the Shelby Companies Limited takeover - led by Tom Wagner - nears completion but that doesn’t take away from the emotions, especially when a classy message is put out. Posting to Instagram, Hannibal said: “ A huge thanks to the amazing staff for their support and guidance, and to the passionate fans for making my time at St. Andrew’s unforgettable.

“I’ve made some fantastic memories and friends here in Birmingham, and I am proud to have worn the Blues jersey. As I move on to the next chapter of my career, I’ll always cherish my time here and the relationships I’ve built. I wish the club, my teammates, and all the fans the very best for the future. Let’s keep pushing forward and making Birmingham FC proud,” Hannibal continued.

The Man Utd man, who scored Blues’ goal of the season with a stunning free-kick against West Bromwich Albion, becomes the fourth of Blues’ loan players to issue a statement. Dion Sanderson, Auston Trusty and Reda Khadra have all posted on social media, though Krystian Bielik is yet to say anything following the end of the season. As it stands, all is rather uncertain for a lot of players.
