It was a weekend for defences to shine in the Sky Bet Championship, as nine clean sheets were kept out of the 12 matches played. That didn’t make for a lack of goals, though, with a total of 25 scored over the weekend of March 10-12.
There were some big results at both ends of the table as Birmingham City picked up a 2-0 win over Rotherham United to go 10 points clear of the drop, whereas Sheffield United were beaten by fellow promotion chasers Luton Town.
Elsewhere, Queens Park Rangers put an end to their woeful form with a surprise 1-0 victory over Watford. There were also notable victories for Middlesbrough away at Swansea City, and Stoke City on home soil against Blackburn Rovers.
So many players impressed this weekend just gone that it would be difficult to select just 11 to form a team of the week but, rather thankfully, WhoScored’s rating system makes things a lot easier.
