Here’s how the Championship team of the week shapes up for 10-12 March 2023 – as Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Norwich City dominate.
It was a weekend for defences to shine in the Sky Bet Championship, as nine clean sheets were kept out of the 12 matches played. That didn’t make for a lack of goals, though, with a total of 25 scored over the weekend of March 10-12.
There were some big results at both ends of the table as Birmingham City picked up a 2-0 win over Rotherham United to go 10 points clear of the drop, whereas Sheffield United were beaten by fellow promotion chasers Luton Town.
Elsewhere, Queens Park Rangers put an end to their woeful form with a surprise 1-0 victory over Watford. There were also notable victories for Middlesbrough away at Swansea City, and Stoke City on home soil against Blackburn Rovers.
So many players impressed this weekend just gone that it would be difficult to select just 11 to form a team of the week but, rather thankfully, WhoScored’s rating system makes things a lot easier.
With that in mind, here are the best-performing stars based on WhoScored ratings. See below.

5. CB: Harlee Dean (Birmingham City) - 8.22
Similar to Long; it was a strong showing from Harlee Dean as he won nine aerial duels and contributed four tackles. Also made six clearances and three interceptions.

6. LB: Dimitirs Giannoulis (Norwich City) - 8.15
Lost 1-0 against Sunderland but did excellently to keep the score down with six tackles. Also very effective going forward, with a huge eight dribbles completed.

7. CM: Ben Whiteman (Preston North End) - 8.02
Broke up the play effectively at the base of midfield, with six tackles won - including a last-man challenge - as Preston beat Cardiff 2-0.

8. CM: Alex Scott (Bristol City) - 7.99
Scored the second goal of the game to round things off for Bristol. One of the best youngsters in the Championship and he showed, with the most accurate passes on the field (61).
