Birmingham City have the seventh best away following in the Championship this season, according to the calculations.

Just under 2,000 fans made the trip to Portman Road last Saturday to witness a 3-1 defeat to Ipswich Town. Blues fans like to travel in their numbers and with the 2023/24 campaign now three quarters of a way through, Birmingham are just outside of the play-offs when it comes to away attendances.

English Football League website The 72 have collated the figures up until December 26 and then since then we have used the information they have posted from each match round since to come up with the averages for every club in the Championship. At the half-way point of the campaign, Birmingham were ninth and so they have moved up two places.

Should Birmingham fans want to boost those numbers then they've got six more opportunities to do so. They travel to Hull City on a Tuesday on March 5 and also travel to Millwall in the same week. A Good Friday trip to Loftus Road to face QPR is in the offing and then a trip to the King Power Arena to face runaway leaders Leicester City. Their final away matches are then against basement side Rotherham United on April 20 and then a week later they face Huddersfield Town on April 27.

According to those at The 72 who had their results published by BristolWorld last season, Birmingham City had an average of 1,981 fans for the 2022/23 campaign which put them in sixth.

Birmingham's away attendances are all the more impressive given how bad their record is on the road. Birmingham City are one of the worst teams when it comes to away performance this season and are 22nd based on games away from St Andrew's. They have a record of three wins, two draws and 12 defeats with 33 goals conceded and 15 goals scored.
