Championship team of the week features West Brom, Preston North End, Ipswich Town & Sheffield Wednesday stars

West Brom, Preston North End, Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday all feature in the Championship team of the week for February 23-24.

Another thrilling weekend of Sky Bet Championship action has now passed, bringing us closer to the 2023/24 season finale. Just two of the dozen matches played on February 23 and 24 were drawn, while six were won by merely one goal.

Leeds United vs Leicester City was the most thrilling fixture on paper and it certainly didn't disappoint as the hosts came from behind to win 3-1 at Elland Road on Friday evening. Leicester were ahead right up until the 80th minute but Leeds were clinical in the dying embers to earn a huge win, moving them to within just six points of top spot.

The biggest winning margin of the weekend also came on Friday as Preston North End stunned Coventry City with a superb 3-0 victory away at CBS Arena. Ryan Lowe's side opened the scoring within just one minute before going on to earn all three points, leapfrogging their opponents in the table in the process.

West Midlands sides Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion didn't exactly have the best time of it as Blues were comfortably beaten 3-1 away at Ipswich Town whereas the Baggies drew 1-1 at Hull City. Albion will be fairly happy with the point as it keeps the Tigers below them but it wasn't a game that will live long in the memory.

Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers earned massive 2-1 victories over Bristol City and Rotherham United respectively, boosting their survival hopes. Millwall, Huddersfield Town and Swansea City all won too, however, so not that much ground was gained in the end. That said, Stoke City's 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City now drops the Potters into the bottom three.
