Birmingham City manager John Eustace says that ‘everyone is trying very, very hard’ to bring in some new faces before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

The Blues squad is still looking incredibly thin and with just one week left of the transfer window, fans are desperate for a bit of positive news on the incoming front.

With seven days to go, Eustace was asked whether or not there is any possibility at all of Birmingham bringing in a new player or two.

“I certainly hope so,” he said. “It’s not for the want of trying.”

“Everyone’s trying their hardest to get players in. Obviously they’ve got to be better than what we’ve got. The squad is very thin, we know that and as long as they are better than what we’ve got here, we’d love them to come here.

Money is very, very tight so we’ll just have to wait and see but everyone is trying very, very hard to try and improve the squad.”

Jordon Mutch is one name that continues to be floated around and whilst he continues to train with the squad at Wast Hills, Eustace again re-emphasised that no deal is close with regards to that.

“Jordon is still getting his fitness, still getting an opportunity to train which is good,” explained the manager.

“I’ve played with Jordon, he was one of the top players in the country at one point.

“I’ve played with him and if I can help him get his fitness levels up and give him a platform to train, that’s fantastic, he’s one of my pals.”
