Birmingham City striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has been given a two game ban for ‘deliberately deceiving an official’ during Birmingham’s 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Jutkiewicz was adjudged to have been brought down by Wigan’s Joe Bennett in the 10th minute of the match, an incident which led to the Wigan man receiving a red card.

However, following a review, Bennett has now had his red card overturned and it is the Birmingham forward that will now be on the receiving end of a suspension.

The 33-year-old will now miss Blues’ next two fixtures, the trip to Rotherham United on Saturday and the home match against St Andrew’s next Tuesday evening.

What John Eustace has said

“It’s disappointing. Everyone knows Jukey is a top professional and a top lad and I’m sure deliberately he would not go out to dive.

“He was expecting contact and he’s obviously fallen over from that and the lad has ended up getting sent off.

“He certainly wouldn’t go out there to get someone deliberately sent off and obviously it’s disappointing news.”
