Birmingham City have agreed a fee with FC Midtjylland striker Sory Kaba, according to reports.

Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has reported on Monday morning that Blues had 'agreed a fee for Sory Kaba' according to sources in Denmark. Kaba looked Watford bound but now Birmingham City have moved ahead of them and 'several Championship clubs' in the race for the 28-year-old forward. Leeds United and Midlands rivals West Brom were also said to have held an interest. Transfer journalist Darren Witcoop claims that Kaba is rated at £2m, which would make him seventh player to be bought for a fee this summer.

Kaba would have brung Championship experience to St Andrew's, having been on loan at Cardiff City last season, playing a huge role in helping the Welsh side stave off the threat of the relegation. The Bluebirds did want to re-sign Kaba, however because of them being under a transfer embargo, they were unable to yield a bid for him, and other clubs like Birmingham were able to pay a transfer fee for the Guinea-Bissau international.

It could be a case of one in one out in terms of strikers with Sam Cosgrove closing in on another loan exit. It has been reported by Alan Nixon that Blackpool are the 'favourites' to sign the 26-year-old, despite interest from other League One clubs Barnsley, Charlton Athletic and Derby County. Cosgrove has a year left on his contract but has struggled to make a impact during his two-and-a-half-years at the club.

Meanwhile one departure however has been confirmed by the club, and that is goalkeeper Zach Jeacock who has been loaned out to Gloucester City. He has joined the National League North outfit on loan until Wednesday, January 31, 2024, which will give the club to take him back should if required. Jeacock has had spells at Stourport Swifts and Salford City in recent years, and has appeared four times for Birmingham. The 22-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2024, and is an academy graduate.
