Birmingham City player ratings vs Rotherham United: Nine 7/10s as Man of the Match earns 7.9 in League One win

The Blues earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over Rotherham United to extend their unbeaten League One run.

Birmingham City secured another big three points in their League One title and promotion push on Saturday afternoon. The Blues were on the road against Rotherham United but the Millers couldn’t make the home advantage count as they were handed their third consecutive result without a win.

Birmingham took an early lead through Tomoki Iwata before Jay Stansfield doubled their advantage just eight minutes later to put his side 2-0 up inside 25 minutes. Aside from a yellow card for Rotherham’s Christ Tiéhi, the busy first half reduced to a simmer and the Blues entered the break with a two-goal cushion.

The second half saw a number of substitutions but no further goals in the New York Stadium clash. Birmingham’s win marks their their fifth of the season and continues their unbeaten run — the Blues are the only club in League One yet to lose a match.

City did have a golden opportunity to take the top spot in the table after Crawley Town equalised against leaders Wrexham. However, a late goal from Max Cleworth put the Red Dragons back at the top of the tree. The Blues remain tied with Wrexham on 16 points each, behind only on goal difference, but Chris Davies’ side have a crucial game in-hand that could see them leapfrog into first place.
