Birmingham City have released a statement and images updating supporters on the work going on at the club’s home stadium, St Andrew’s. Improvements are set to progress during the 2022 World Cup break - as Blues have four weeks without a game during that period.

Although the club have already stated the work won’t be finalised until the start of next season, some real developments are being made - as shown by images shared through Birmingham City’s official Twitter account.

Work continues on the lower Kop and Tilton,” a Blues tweet reads. “All seats have now been removed with pitchside protection being installed today, before work starts on breaking down the concrete underneath the lower tiers this week.”

On the pitch, Blues have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, exceeding all expectations. New manager John Eustace has got his side playing with great confidence and their league position shows it.

Bluenoses won’t quite be used to their side being in 13th place given the highest finishing spot in the last six years has been 17th - but that is where they currently stand. Birmingham also hold the equal second-best defensive record in the entire division, having conceded just 20 goals in 21 league matches so far this term.
