Birmingham City’s injury list looks to finally be on its way to a full recovery as we make our way into the business end of the season.

The Blues have been ravaged with problems since match day one and the size of their squad has only magnified the issues when injuries and/or suspensions have occurred.

But with the additions of some new faces and certain key players confirmed to be on their way back - the team is looking in the best shape it has for some time.

Here’s the full injury report coming out of St Andrew’s.

Tahith Chong

Injury: Groin

Chong will return to Blues’ Wast Hills training ground on Monday February 7.

The Manchester United loanee has been out injured since the end of October with a groin problem that required surgery.

He will need at least two weeks full training under his belt before he is risked with any minutes.

Potential return date: February 22 - Reading (A)

Troy Deeney

Injury: Thigh

Deeney has been absent since the FA Cup defet to Plymouth Argyle with a thigh injury.

Bowyer stated that he will return to training on the same day as Chong, however, it’s likely that Deeney could return to the side a little sooner than the youngster.

Potential return date: February 19 - Stoke City (A)

Taylor Richards

Injury: Ankle

Richards is yet to play any minutes for Blues since joining on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion due to an ankle issue he picked up prior to his arrival.

Wednesday (February 2) was the first day the midfielder had been on the grass in a month.

Whilst it’s good news that he’s back on the turf, his lack of minutes this season means he probably needs a little while to catch up - similar to Chong.

Potential return date: February 22 - Reading (A)

Gary Gardner

Injury: Ankle

Bowyer confirmed that the midfielder picked up a knock on his ankle in the 2-2 draw with Derby County but is hopeful that it won’t affect his game status for Friday evening.

Potential return date: February 4 - Sheffield United (H)
