Birmingham City hit the ‘magic’ 50-point mark in the Championship on Saturday as they drew 0-0 with Stoke City – the total usually seen as well enough to protect a side from relegation.

It may not have been an entertaining fixture at St. Andrew’s but the season’s goal was reached with five games to spare.

Not only that, but Blues extended their lead over last campaign’s final tally of 47, displaying progress on the field despite struggles away from it.

Many called for manager John Eustace to be sacked a few weeks ago when Birmingham lost nine out of 11 games, but there has been a recovery recently with eight points out of the last 12 available.

Although not mathematically safe from the drop just yet, Blues have all but confirmed their Championship status for next season, when many will be hoping for a fresh slate.
