Birmingham City boss John Eustace has heaped praise on Juninho Bacuna and George Hall. The Blues played the pair in midfield against Blackburn Rovers yesterday.

They ended up losing 2-1 at Ewood Park but their manager was impressed with what he saw from his side again. The Midlands outfit went 2-0 down after goals from Sam Gallagher and Adam Wharton and pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go through striker Scott Hogan.

However, despite playing well in the game, they were unable to find another goal and went back home with nothing. Eustace has said, as per the official club YouTube channel:

“Bacca (Bacuna) and Hally (Hall) were great in midfield, that’s what we needed, that little bit more energy. Everything was good apart from the result today. We’re a work in progress, it makes us realise that we’re not a million miles away from the top team in the league so we’ll just keep working hard and see where it takes us.”

Birmingham’s loss to Rovers was just their second in their last nine games and they are impressing this term. They are currently 15th in the league table and are six points off the play-offs. Next up is a home clash against high-flying QPR on Friday, followed by another match at St Andrew’s after that against Millwall.

Both Bacuna and Hall are big players and provide useful options in the squad. It will be interesting to see if they start in midfield again together in the next match.
