You best believe Birmingham City fans have done it again, selling out an away fixture in style.

Blues will be joined by a packed away end at Exeter City as all 1,350 tickets have been sold for tonight’s trip to St James Park.

Birmingham have become rather renowned for their ridiculously impressive away support and there’s no sign of that slowing down with well over a thousand braving the eight-hour round trip.

What makes it all the more commendable is the fact it’s a freezing cold midweek game in December - and the fixture isn’t even in League One. If anything, the EFL Trophy is the least important competition Blues are in this season.

Bluenoses don’t care, though, as whether it be rain or shine they will make their presence known. Manager Chris Davies couldn’t be more thankful for the support and the players are certainly feeling the impact too as Blues have won their last three away matches.

Those making the journey down to Exeter will be hoping that winning streak can continue as Birmingham will progress to the last 16 of the tournament with a victory. Although not the priority competition, the EFL Trophy provides a great chance for a joyful cup run and silverware is silverware after all.

A trip to Wembley would be great fun, too, especially as it would become Blues’ first trip to the home of football since 2011. That day remains one of the best in the club’s history as Birmingham beat Arsenal to claim the League Cup crown and qualify for European football.

Togetherness has already returned to Blues but a trophy really would be the cherry on the cake.
