Wycombe Wanderers v Aston Villa injury news as 9 out and 3 doubts

Aston Villa hope to avoid an upset as they travel to Adams Park to face Wycombe Wanderers for a Carabao Cup third round tie.
The Villains because of their involvement in the Champions League were afforded a bye in the first and second rounds of the competition. A new seeding system that was introduced this season kept Villa apart from the other teams in Europe, and so a week later after most of the ties have been played, they face the Chairboys.

Hide AdWycombe defeated Northampton Town and Swansea City to reach this stage of the competition. Richard Kone scored in the first-half against the Swans to knock them out, and they've had experience of frustrating Villa before, having held them to a draw in an FA Cup tie in 2016.
The Buckinghamshire outfit go in to this game on the back of a 2-1 win against Cambridge United at the weekend. Cameron Humphreys scored with five minutes to go, and with that win they sit ninth in the League One standings. Here’s the latest injury news from both camps ahead of kick-off.
Aston Villa team news
Aston Villa were dealt a blow at the weekend as John McGinn was forced off with an injury against Wolves. He's expected to be out for the next couple of weeks because of a hamstring problem.
“In January against Tottenham he had a hamstring injury as well," said Emery when speaking about McGinn's problem.
"He will not be available I think for a few weeks.”

Hide AdSpeaking to CBS Sports at the weekend, Matty Cash said that he was aiming to train this week, as he didn't want to miss the game against Bayern Munich. He suffered a hamstring injury at the end of August, and was ruled out for a couple of weeks.
Boubacar Kamara, and Tyrone Mings both returned to training last week, and a return can’t be too far away. The pair suffered serious knee injuries during different points of last season, and they could soon come in to consideration for selection.
Jaden Philogene was ruled out at the weekend, and the short turnaround before the game game might rule him out.

Fred Onyedinma is doubtful as he tries to build up his match fitness, having only joined a fortnight ago. Gideon Kodua has missed the last few games through injury, and is expected to miss out.
Brandon Hanlan once put Wycombe in front against Manchester City in a Carabao Cup tie, but he will play no part for Wycombe. He’s a long-term absentee, having suffered an ACL injury in November 2023.
David Wheeler has been limited to just one appearance this season, and that was an outing in the EFL Trophy against Brighton & Hove Albion last week. He wasn't in the squad against Cambridge at the weekend, but it could be that he’s building up his fitness.
Ryan Tafazolli is another player that hasn't had many minutes. He played against Northampton Town and Birmingham City, but hasn't played since, and is expected to be out for a while.
