Aston Villa have completed the signing of Boubacar Kamara from Ligue 1 side Marseille on a five-year deal.
The midfielder becomes Villa’s second bit of business already this Summer before the window has even officially opened, following Brazilian Philippe Coutinho through the door.
Here’s all the key bits about the newest member of the claret and blue...
How old is Boubacar Kamara?
Kamara is 22-years-old. His birthday is 23/11/1999.
What position does Boubacar Kamara play?
The 22-year-old is predominantly deployed as a defensive midfielder though throughout his career has also played a little at centre-back, central midfield and even right-midfield.
There’s no denying Villa have signed him to be the man anchoring their midfield three, though.
How tall is Boubacar Kamara?
1.84m or to us English folk, just over six foot.
What nationality is Boubacar Kamara?
Kamara is French and has been capped at all international levels aside from the main senior team to date.
It’s more a matter of when rather than if that happens though and playing in the Premier League will only help his cause further.
Boubacar Kamara’s career statistics
The young midfielder has spent his entire professional career to date with Ligue 1 side, Marseille.
He’s already made 170 appearances for the French giants including well over 100 in their top flight and 28 across European competition including Europa Conference League, Europa League and Champions League.
Whilst he hasn’t been signed for his goalscoring prowess, he has notched up four goals and six assists to date - just for good measure of course.
What will Boubacar Kamara bring to Aston Villa?
It’s all being said in hindsight, of course, but if Kamara was brought on at 2-0 up against Manchester City on Sunday, Aston Villa don’t lose that game.
Despite being still so young, he brings with him an authority and calmness to the game and is a player that can really pull the strings.
It’s arguably the thing Villa have lacked the most this year. There’s no end of games they’ve thrown away simply through their own naivety and Kamara will be a big, big help in solving this issue.
A proper defensive midfielder, something Villa haven’t had at all in 2021/22.
