Liverpool suffered a setback in their title bid over the weekend, and they will be desperate to get back on script at Villa Park.

Villa have their own business to take care of, however, battling for a top-half finish having turned things around in the second half of the campaign.

Whether they manage a top-half finish or not, Gerrard’s men - and indeed Villa fans - will be looking forward to next season.

There is promise aplenty as Gerrard contiues to put his stamp on this Villa team, but in the meantime, let’s take a look at the latest Villa transfer rumours.

Coutinho boost

Villa may be close to finalising a permanent deal for loan star Philippe Coutinho after all.

The Midlands club have a £34million option to buy built into the loan deal, and it has been reported for some time that they may try to reduce that figure.

Amid reported interest from elsewhere, there was fear that Villa might miss out as a result.

But according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Villa are now close to pulling off a deal for the Brazilian for much less than the agreed figure.

Romano has claimed that Villa have ‘fully agreed’ a deal to keep the ex-Liverpool sensation beyond this season, and they are only expected to pay around £17million.

Watkins price

Ollie Watkins has impressed for Villa this season following his move from Brentford, and so much more that he is now attracting attention from elsewhere.

According to The Guardian, West Ham are weighing up a move for Watkins this summer to strengthen for another European campaign.

But having signed Watkins for more than £30million, Villa are not going to accept any less than £50million, according to the report.
