Unai Emery provided injury news for seven Aston Villa players after the 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

Ezri Konsa sustained a hamstring injury during the drab stalemate against United but Emery is uncertain of the severity.

The imminent international break comes at a good time for Villa as Konsa can rest and several other players can build fitness ahead of their respective returns.

“I don’t know exactly, but I think it’s the hamstring. We don’t know if it’s a big or small injury. Hopefully it’ll be a small injury,” Emery said of Konsa in his post-match press conference.

“We have to rest now and recover some players like [Amadou] Onana, Jacob Ramsey, John McGinn. They are coming back for the next two weeks, starting with us and being available to include in the squad - also [Boubacar] Kamara and Tyrone Mings. Buendia is getting fit and better. Of course, we need them,” Emery added.

The mood was flat at Villa Park on Sunday as the hosts failed to gain any real rhythm against United, but the bigger picture is overwhelmingly positive as Villa are eight games unbeaten and are succeeding in every competition.

Injuries may be regular and interrupting the progress, but the good news is none of the recent issues have been severe - or at least that’s the hope with the newest scare for Konsa. A scan will determine how much damage the defender has done to his hamstring.

It’s understood Villa will suggest Konsa doesn’t head out on international duty with England so he can recover properly at Bodymoor Heath. Fixtures against Fulham, Bologna, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth await at the end of this month.
