Aston Villa are hoping to bring to an end a summer-long transfer saga by completing a £13m deal today.

Aston Villa are hopeful of concluding a deal for Sevilla's Marcos Acuna, and want to conclude the deal by the end of today, according to reports.

Acuna has been linked with a move to Villa Park for the majority of this transfer window, and are now seemingly closing in on the signing of the 31-year-old. The Daily Mail report that Villa transfer bosses are entering a 'entering a new round of talks' as they try to agree a fee for the World Cup winner.

It has been reported by the mail that personal terms have already been settled and that all is left now is for Villa and Sevilla to reach an agreement which could see the left-back come straight in to the mix for the trip to Everton. Players must be registered 12.00 pm the working day before a game, and so despite Villa playing on Sunday, they have until mid-day on Friday to get the deal done if he is to play any part against the Toffees.

Acuna has sampled a small taste of English football having played against Manchester City in the Super Cup final yesterday, setting up Youssef En-Nesyri for the opening goal before Cole Palmer equalised. The Citizens won on penalties, converting all five of their spot-kicks, whilst Nemanja Gudelj missed his with Acuna not one of the five penalty takers.

Unai Emery is eyeing defensive reinforcements after Tyrone Mings suffered a serious knee injury in the defeat to Newcastle United. He was carried off of the pitch and underwent surgery which will rule him out for a considerable time, and it is the second time in his career that he has had a knee injury, having spent more than a year out when he was at AFC Bournemouth.

Lucas Digne meanwhile has been linked with a move away from the Midlands, with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal said to be keen. One of the Saudi Pro League’s biggest hitters recently signed Brazil superstar Neymar in a big-money move and have turned their attention away from signing Fulham's Aleksandr Mitrovic, and are now prioritising a move for the 30-year-old left-back.
