Philippe Coutinho could yet leave Villa Park this summer

Philippe Coutinho could be set to leave Aston Villa in the coming weeks with offers for the Brazilian still on the cards, according to reports.

Coutinho has looked likely to leave the club in this summer transfer window, as injury troubles have racked up and the 31-year-old is unlikely to be part of Unai Emery’s plans going forward, having featured just ten times under the Spaniard since he took over as manager last season.

On a sizeable salary following his £20 million move from Barcelona, a departure seems probable in the near future.

Coutinho, formerly of Liverpool and Bayern Munich, was an incredibly exciting addition when he initially joined on loan in January 2022, but things haven’t really worked out since. The 30-year-old netted five goals in 19 Premier League appearances throughout 2021-22, but only managed to score once after joining Villa permanently.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that it’s likely Villa and and Coutinho will receive offers from Saudi and Qatari clubs in the final days of the window.

He wrote on Twitter: “Qatari clubs will insist to sign Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa in the final days of the window. Approaches also from Saudi but Qatari side pushing. Coutinho has chances to leave in case of good proposal.”
