Here’s how the Premier League team of the week shapes up for April 15-17, as Aston Villa, Liverpool, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Man City dominate.

The Premier League is really hotting up with the number of fixtures left for each team now in single digits. Pressure is ramping up at both ends of the table with big results for sides in the relegation, European and title battles.

From Wolverhampton Wanderers winning a second successive game to claw themselves well away from the bottom three to Aston Villa making it five victories in a row to halt Newcastle United’s purple streak, the season is being set up for a grand finale.

Liverpool enjoyed the biggest win of the weekend as they boosted their top six hopes with a 6-1 thrashing over Leeds United. Meanwhile, league leaders Arsenal dropped points at West Ham United, allowing Manchester City, who beat Leicester City 3-1, to close the gap to just four points with a game in hand.

Brighton & Hove Albion completed a league double over Chelsea for the first time in their history as Roberto De Zerbi’s men swept the Blues aside by two goals to nil, whereas AFC Bournemouth earned a surprise victory at Tottenham Hotspur in a 3-2 thriller.

Everton continued their slump with a 3-1 home defeat against an out-of-form Fulham and Southampton remained at the bottom of the table with a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Saint Mary’s Stadium. There was also a 2-0 defeat for Nottingham Forest against Manchester United, completing a losing record for the entire bottom five.

So many players impressed this weekend just gone that it would be difficult to select just 11 to form a team of the week but, rather thankfully, WhoScored’s rating system makes things a lot easier. With that in mind, here are the best-performing stars based on WhoScored ratings. See below.
