Aston Villa and Wolves have players that must avoid being yellow carded to avoid missing a Boxing Day match.

Three Wolves players and one Aston Villa player are in danger of a one-game ban.

Premier League suspension rules state that any player who accumulates five yellow cards before match week 19 will be issued with a one-game ban. 10 yellows before game-week 32 will result in a two-match ban. The suspension for five or 10 yellow cards is specific to the Premier League and cannot be served in the FA Cup or League Cup.

For most players, anyone who picks up a yellow card over the next weekend will miss their side’s Boxing Day clash. Wolves’ next opponents Leicester have the most players in danger of a suspension with four players walking a tightrope on four yellow cards.

Jordan Ayew, Wilfred Ndidi, Oliver Skipp, and Jamie Vardy will all have to be on their best behaviour and avoid being carded. As for Wolves, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Toti Gomes, and Mario Lemina are all on four yellow cards apiece.

For Rayan Ait-Nouri, he’s already serving a ban. He was given a red card following an altercation at the full-time whistle in the recent game against Ipswich Town. He will be against Leicester City, which could potentially be Vítor Pereira’s first game in charge. Should he return for the Boxing Day game against Man United and get yellow carded, then he would then miss the game against Spurs on December 29.

It is possible that Matheus Cunha could be joining Ait-Nouri on the suspension list. The Daily Mirror are reporting that Cunha could face an FA investigation, should Simon Hooper put the incident in his report.

Elsewhere in the West Midlands, Morgan Rogers is the only Aston Villa player who is in real danger of a ban. He’s got four yellow cards this term and has been ever present, starting all 16 of the Villains’ league matches.

Villa take on the Premier League champions Manchester City next and they have Bernardo Silva on four yellow cards. With three more games to go and games coming quick and fast, both Rogers and Silva will have to be disciplined come the clash at the weekend.
